Sight is one of the most valued human senses allowing people to experience the world in vivid colour and depth. Unfortunately, millions worldwide suffer from corneal blindness — a condition that can often be cured through corneal transplantation.
Corneal transplantation awareness involves educating the public about the importance of donating corneas to help restore vision for people with corneal blindness.
An eye bank is a nonprofit organization responsible for the collection, preservation, and distribution of donated eye tissue for corneal transplant, research, and education.
In our SLMCH, we started an eye bank to collect the cornea from donors and plan for corneal transplantation procedures for poor patients. Our institute is recognized by the Government of India and Tamil Nadu.
